I rode the Bridge Pedal last week with friends and family, and left early enough to avoid the gridlock. Like much of the past month or so, the air and light felt more autumnal than anything (not the greatest for photo contrast), although, according to the Oregonian, that statement just proves the frailty of human perception. All of these pictures are from the Marquam and Fremont interstate bridges. Hopefully someday the Marquam will look more like this.

There's always a lot of action on the Broadway bridge. I like to park my bike up there in the summertime and hang out: taking pictures and thinking about the city's geographic place in the world. Especially how the river curves around downtown and you can see the spine of the Cascades marching south down the east side of the valley.

We're lucky.

And no, the guy in the last picture didn't jump.
